Wildlife


We’re just a short drive away from the ever-popular Chester Zoo. With an incredible 15,000 animals spread over 125 acres, there’s plenty to see and do at the park. The festive period is a truly magical time to visit, with the lantern show, illuminating the entire zoo. The family fun continues with little monkey mornings running throughout December, for those memorable days out with the kids. Education never ends with lessons on extinction being a regular attraction for this well-loved location. For animal lovers staying with us so close to the city centre, the beautiful gardens of Chester Cathedral now host a spectacular falconry show seven days a week. With daily flying shows and children’s nature trails they are the perfect distraction to keep everyone happy on those tedious Christmas shopping days. Alternatively, Beeston Castle and Woodland Walks really take you away from the hustle and bustle of the busy centre, showcasing the beautiful habitats surrounding the Cheshire countryside. The crisp autumnal air really is paradise for walkers and nature lovers.

Retail Therapy


Looking to treat yourself on your trip to Chester? There’s everything you need for a day of retail therapy, from popular high street chains to a selection of smaller vintage and independent shops. You could even head a little out of town and pick up a few bargains at Cheshire Oaks Designer Outlet. River Dee


Stretching an impressive 70 miles, from Snowdonia through to Chester, the iconic River Dee is perfect for those lazy autumnal strolls. Enjoy a peaceful walk alongside the river or hire out a boat for the day to see more of the beautiful landscape. If you’re looking to stay on foot and nearer to the pub, we’re also close by to The Groves. The Groves is a popular riverside walk, complete with plenty of spots to put your feet up and relax. Chester Boat offer sightseeing cruises ranging from party nights afloat to vintage afternoon tea cruises, for the more civilised affair.

Storyhouse


Storyhouse is Chester’s new and vibrant £37m theatre, library, restaurant and cinema. The restored and revitalised 1930s Odeon building houses an 800-seat auditorium, a 150-seat studio theatre, a restaurant and two bars plus a 100-seat boutique, independent cinema. This season’s upcoming theatre performances include; Calendar Girls the musical, Peter Pan, and the festive special of The Nutcracker. The family friendly activities are never ending this autumn with book club, taekwondo and drumming workshops just scratching the surface.
