Chester Walls


Enjoy a scenic morning walk this summer around our famous Chester walls, just a stone’s throw away from the river front. With the longer evenings they are home to the most beautiful sunsets, stretching almost 2 miles around the city. Mid-route you will stumble across Eastgate clock, the second most photographed clock in the UK and Chester’s famous Cathedral. This stunning route is a great way to explore the local area and will lead you back to us and our bustling beer garden for a well-deserved drink in the sun.

Chester Zoo


We’re just a short drive away from the ever-popular Chester Zoo. This main attraction has recently re-opened, and with an incredible 15,000 animals spread over 125 acres, is a must see. Education never ends with fantastic lessons on animal conservation being at the very heart of this well-loved location. Research for the zoo takes place in 21 countries around the world, meaning they have answers to all of your animal questions. Retail Therapy


Looking to treat yourself on your trip to Chester? The city centre has re-opened it’s doors and there’s everything you need for a day of retail therapy, from popular high street chains to a selection of smaller vintage and independent shops. Chester indoor market, sitting in the heart of the centre, is a unique shopping experience and great way of supporting our local businesses. This summer the market’s ‘Al Fresco’ dining experience will be opening daily 10am-4pm and Friday & Saturday evenings until 8pm. This pop-up eating area has a range of cuisines from around the world, and a huge selection of beer and wine from local traders.
You could even head a little out of town and pick up brilliant bargains at Cheshire Oaks Designer Outlet. With a huge choice of popular brands the outlet is family friendly with a range of fantastic restaurants with outdoor seating.

Chester Racecourse


If you are looking for that extra special day out we are just a river-front walk away from the award-winning Chester Racecourse. It’s not too late to make the most of the events the racecourse still has on offer this summer. In collaboration with Chester’s Storyhouse Theatre, the racecourse is hosting a ‘Moonlight drive in cinema’, throughout July with famous classics from Mary Poppins to Sister Act.

River Dee


Stretching an impressive 70 miles, from Snowdonia through to Chester, the iconic River Dee is perfect for those summer evening strolls. Enjoy a peaceful walk across the meadows or hire out a boat for the day to really make the most of the beautiful landscape. If you’re looking to stay on foot and nearer to the pub, we’re right next door to The Groves. This popular riverside walk is complete with plenty of spots to put your feet up and relax with an ice-cream. Chester Boat offer sightseeing cruises ranging from party nights afloat to vintage afternoon tea cruises, for the more civilised affair.
